Project Management – Geek+ integration for Ceva Logisticsstudy Automation (1/12/2020 -31/07/2021)

During this 7 months I was active as Project Manager by Ceva Logistics.
With our team, we integrated the Geek+ robots into the picking process of the costumer, a leading world player in the fashion industrie.

Automation feasability study (01/10/2020 – 30/11/2020)

In the design phase of a new warehouse for this costumer I developed a tool to give the costumer the opportunity to calculate the needed number of trucks (manual and automated) in order of the required number of transports for each type of material towards the different zones in the new warehouse lay-out.

Thanks to this tool, they ware able to have an insight in the total investment and the return on investment of each solution.

Post Luxemburg (21/01/2020 -30/04/2020)

Lay-out and logistics engineer.

For this project we will work in a team of 3 specialists.

Within the team, I will be in charge for the analysis of the current processes for the parcel handling of the Luxemburg Post.

Starting from the incoming parcels by the different customers and partners at the main hub in Bettembourg, the distribution over the different sub hubs all over the country, up to the delivery to the end customer.

Afterwards, we will work out the different strategies to define the measurements needed to increase the capacity of the installation in order to the expected growth of the parcel logistics.

Due to the Covid crises, which had an enormous impact on the operations on costumers side  this project was stopped.

As Freelancer at Brix Advice I have been concerned with a feasibility study of the automation of an existing warehouse with AGV’s.

Volvo Trucks builds trucks with passion.

As logistic engineer I’m part of a team that ensures that the right parts are delivered to the right place at the right time.

– Delivery of fastners (bolts, nuts, …) to the production line

– Delivery of parts out of the automated warehouses (full pallet and mini-load)

– The Engineering and implementation of Forklift free logistic solutions

Luiknatie Coldstore (17/06/2019 – …)

In this role I’m supporting Luiknatie with the selection of the provider, but also with the engineering and implementation (Project Management) of an automated installation for the inbound, the palletizing and labelling of the, by Luiknaties costumers, imported frozen food products in the new constructed cold store warehouse in Kallo (Beveren). The pallets are putted trough with conveyor technic to the cold storage. With a second conveyor line, full pallets are also transported into the cold storage.

Also I facilitate the implementation of RFID in the warehouse and on the forklift trucks for an optimized warehouse management is part of the job.

At Libeco I was involved by a concept study to automate the picking of the rolls of linen.

This to prepare the textile for shipping to their costumers all over the world.

I made a selection of potential suppliers to work out a solution for this proces.

Automation

During my Period @ STILL, I have realised a lot of nice projects in Automation as there are;

e

  • Audi, Brussels – IRK (Innen Raum Kable) Project

e

In this project I was the Project Advisor, Logistic engineer and Project Manager for STILL.

This Project contains a warehouse (Special designed Racking system), conveyors, Reach trucks and AGV’s to provide the Internal Cable of the Audi e-tron in the right sequence to the production line.

All movements of the boxes with the serial number specific cable are triggered by a tailor made WMS system.

  • Ceratizit – Ceratungsten, Niederkorn (Lux)

Ceratungsten is a production site of Tungsten steel powder, to be used for cutting tools, …

These powder is transported internal in metal containers with a weight of up to 2.500 Kg.

To make the internal logistic more efficient and safe, we implemented together with Dematic 2 automated reach trucks in this production site.

As the requirements where quit high, this trucks and the installation is complicated and has a lot of extra components.

Also the racking system was designed and delivered by STILL.

Also the 4 automation projects mentioned above were developed and implemented successfully in cooperation with Dematic/Egemin during my career at STILL.

There are some more projects realized during this period, but these are the most known.

I had the opportunity to support (at that time) Egemin in the development of this new technology.

Thanks to this collaboration and experience, I can help my costumers today with a high level knowledge.

Pallet Shuttle

I’m also proud of 2 realized projects with pallet shuutle.

e

West-Vleteren (Sint Sixtus Abbey)

e

During the process of the brewing of the (best) Beer (of the world) the Beer is putted into heated chambers during several days.

To be able to store the Beer on a compact surface in several cells, they opted for a solution with 2 shuttles.

In the project, several special requirements and options ware needed.

As the Intralogistic division was just a small Business unit, I was involved in the sales process, but also the Project Management.

In the chemical production site of this concern in Antwerp they are using a shuttle solution to have a very compact, (In this case) FIFO warehouse to store one of the main products.

Also here, I was involved as sales man and Sales engineer during a study to enlarge the capacity of the warehouse.

Special VNA truck projects

e

VNA trucks (Turret head trucks and vertical order pickers) are (most often) tailormade.

The sales process of these trucks makes also part of the Intralogistic division of STILL.

I have been able to close a lot of deals during my time at STILL, nevertheless there are some projects who I will keep in mind;

e

Here the VNA turret head truck is used as a lift to provide the natural resources up to the installation who mixes the different components together.

The truck is working in one single aisle with some more special needs.

Bridgestone Air tire

e

Another project with quit special requirements was Bridgestone.

The basis was a simple vertical order picker, but we worked out a special equipment to “feed” the roll through warehouse.

Transport Gheys

e

Another project what makes me proud is situated by Transport Gheys.

In this project, we worked together with STOW (Pallet Shuttle), Logflow (Logistic consultancy) and CW Logistics (WMS).

Also here, the requirements were quit high and up to the limit of the STILL VNA trucks.

Tugger train solutions

Eng.

The last, but not the least part of the Intralogistic department was the sales of the Tugger train solution.

This train solution is more and more used in factories to get a forklift free logistic flow in production.

Keeping out forklifts out of the production augment the safety.

e

Also the increased range of parts and the requirements and needs for just in time and just in sequence delivery to the line is a pro for this kind of solution.

As the needs of every production site is different, also the tugger train is a tailormade product, witch requires a lot of knowledge (of logistics, production, safety, ergonomics, …) and engineering.
